Background information and history

Crimsonietta.net has been hosted by Alan (insert thanks and all that sappy stuff here) since June of 2007, purchased from spare cash I had left over from my Sekai no Melody ad revenue. I had been hosted on a subdomain of my friend Jody (at Space-halo.org) for the past two years, but in 2007 I felt the need to acquire my own domain. Not only do I feel more comfortable knowing how I’m allocating my own bandwidth and storage space, but I won’t end up with insanely long URLs like http://dollie.space-halo.org/subfolder, or even worse (before that, I had been hosted on Jody’s Electric-butterfly.org domain), http://princess.electric-butterfly.org/subfolder. That’s quite a mouthful and isn’t very memorable at all, whereas Crimsonietta.net is one word, and can fit into a variety of themes, as you can see below in the “previous layouts” section. “Crimsonietta” itself is a name I made up for a character in my novella-in-the-works, taken from the endearing ending -etta and the root word “crimson”.

When I initially made the decision to switch over to a domain, I was planning to merely transfer over my old sites, but I then looked back at them and feel no desire at all to continue working on or running them. With a bit of regret but the knowledge that it was for the best, I killed off all of my previous sites and started to focus only on this domain and Sekai no Melody. One of the main reasons was that I was no longer interested in running fansites and fanlistings. Even nowadays, I have tried many times to no avail to convert Crimsonietta to a personal site, a visitor content site, a music review site, and much more. However, I find that my little slice of the web is best suited to what I do best - documenting my life and expressing the many strong opinions that I possess

The future of Crimsonietta

What will become of Crimsonietta in the future? Thus far, I have kept Crimsonietta as a blog, and hopefully I can continue to do so far into the future as well. However, next year I plan to change my domain name. “Crimsonietta” is a gorgeous name and it has certainly served me well in the past (it’s very easy to incorporate into layouts, for some reason). However, it is long and - much to my horror - rather hard to pronounce for some people. I really want something that is simple and memorable. Currently on my candidate list for a new domain are:

  • a variation of Misonix.net (already registered, but I REALLY like the sound)
  • Ambytx.net (Misonix and Ambytx are two handles of mine)
  • Remixx.net (I have an obsession with the word “remix”, just ask my SnM girls)
  • a variation of Verbosity.net (see note on Misonix)
